Quartz variety Faden, Wana, South Waziristan District, Pakistan, size 11cm PK12
SOLD Some of the most distinctive quartz specimens found in Alpine deposits of Europe and Pakistan are the attractive "faden" crystal groups. This specimen shows the classic "faden" (German word for string) form that is well known from this locality. The piece exhibits a very prominent "faden" that runs across the excellent clear gemmy main crystal. The main crystal is quite flat in nature and features striations which are attributed to tectonic forces during formation. At the top of the crystal sits another small side car of smaller crystals. One edge of the crystal features beveled faces and the other a saw tooth faces. Dimensions are 11x5x.5cm. From Wana, South Waziristan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.
