Jet Black Spinel octahedra on Forsterite Parker Mine Laurentides, Québec 5cm GN44
Numerous jet-black Spinel arranged in Forsterite crystal matrix. The Spinel (up to .5cm in size) have excellent luster and feature the classic octahedral form. The matrix on consists of massive Forsterite and tabular Forsterite crystals up tp 1.5cm long. The green gem variety of Forsterite is known as Peridot. The Calcite in this specimen has been etched away to expose the Spinel and Forsterite. From the well-known now closed to collecting Canadian locality Parker Mine, Notre-Dame-du-Laus, Antoine-Labelle RCM, Laurentides, Québec, Canada. Dimensions are 5x4.5x3cm 62 grams.
