Rare Hematite Coated Calcite Crystal Faraday/Madawaska Mine Faraday Township 10cm GN40
A large complex scalenohedral Calcite crystal with the typical for this locality pinacoid (flat) termination. The crystal has hematite surface-coating and with spots of Chalcopyrite crystals up to 1cm across. The specimen was in the collection of the well known Michigan based collector Robert Nowakowski and bears his collection label on the base. From the famous Canadian locality the Madawaska Mine, Faraday Township, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. Large specimens of Calcite from this former Mine do not turn up frequently on the market.
