Herringbone Silver Crystals in Calcite, Millerett Mine, Haultain Township, Ontario 10cm CO172
This is a beautiful specimen of herringbone Silver in Calcite. The Silver herringbones are coated-replaced by shiny grey Cobalt arsenide. The Calcite has been etched away to expose the intricate Silver crystals. Patches of Silver can also been seen in the remaining Calcite and Diabase. Specimens of this quality are uncommon. From the lesser known locality the Millerett Mine Haultain Township, Gowganda area Ontario Canada. This mine had very rich veins but production only lasted from 1909 until 1912 as the ore ran out. Specimens are not frequently seen on the market. Dimensions 10x4x6cm 353 grams.
