Andradite, Grossular with Pyrite, Marmoraton Iron Mine Marmora Ontario, 12cm GN33
Red brown Andradite-Grossular crystal with Pyrite crystals in an Epidote rich matrix. The garnets at Marmora are typically zoned between andradite and grossular. (both species present). What make this specimen pop is a nice 2 cm grouping of golden Pyrite crystals associated with the Garnets. The largest Garnet is 1cm wide. Complete Pyrites with Garnet are harder to find at this locality. The base is saw cut so the specimen stands up for display. From the Marmoraton Iron Mine, Marmora Ontario Canada. This locality is closed to collecting so specimens will become harder to find. Overall dimensions 12x7x6cm 495 grams.
