Rare Transparent Violet Purple Tourmaline on Muscovite Dara-e-Pech Afghanistan 8cm AFG44
Lustrous violet purple Tourmaline crystals (var. Elbaite) rest on pearly yellowish Muscovite Mica with Albite Feldspar. Purple is a more rare colour in and thus is sought after. The largest Tourmaline is 4.5 cm long .5cm wide and is very transparent. The adjacent crystal is 2cm long .8cm wide. A white Albite Feldspar crystal 3cm adds some contrast. Scattered about the matrix are numerous other pale blue Tourmaline crystals. In very good condition overall. The 2cm Tourmaline does not have a complete termination. From the famous Tourmaline locality Dara-e-Pech pegmatite field, Dara-e-Pech District, Kunar, Afghanistan. Dimensions 8x5x4cm 75 grams.
