Jet Black Spinel octahedra on Forsterite Parker Mine Laurentides, Québec 8cm GN29
Numerous jet-black Spinel arranged in Forsterite crystal matrix. The Spinel (up to 1.5cm in size) have excellent luster and feature the classic octahedral form. The larger Spinel has smaller Spinel triangles on its faces in parallel growth. The matrix on consists of massive Forsterite and tabular Forsterite crystals. The green gem variety of Forsterite is known as Peridot. The Calcite in this specimen has been etched away to expose the Spinel and Forsterite. From the well-known Canadian locality Parker Mine, Notre-Dame-du-Laus, Antoine-Labelle RCM, Laurentides, Québec, Canada. *Our last large piece from this locality*. Dimensions are 8x6x5cm 187 grams.
