Fluorite "bug eye" on Quartz Huanggangliang Mine Inner Mongolia China 8.25cm CH53
These Fluorite feature a very unusual morphology sometimes referred to as bug eye. The crystals have octahedral modifications with laddered faces. The outer layer of the Fluorite has a yellowish cast with zones into blue green and purple. in many of the crystals purple phantoms-zones are visible. The top end the Fluorite crystals have a flat smooth termination to give the eye like appearance. Under long wave UV light the eye of the Fluorite glows a deep purple. The Fluorite rests on a bed of frosty white Quartz crystals. A very aesthetic specimen from a now closed mine-locality the Huanggangliang Mine ( Huanggang Mine), Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Chifeng City (Ulanhad League; Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia, China.
