Lustrous Blue-Purple Fluorite on Muscovite, Yaogangxian Mine, Chenzhou, Hunan, China 5cm CH48
Translucent blue-purple lustrous laddered cubes of Fluorite. The 3 cm wide Fluorite is set on a bed of yellow Muscovite mica. The Fluorite has a bluesish colour with hints of purple and is transparent enough to easily view the mica underneath it. Of special note is the deep purple core at the base of the Fluorite sometimes referred as an alien eye. On the back side there small clusters of transparent Calcite crystals. The Fluorite has electric blue fluorescence under long wave UV light and the Calcite pink. The specimen sits up perfectly for display. Excellent overall condition. A word about colour, the blue tones in the Fluorite can look quite different depending on the light source and brightness. The photos gives a more blue cast than natural light. A very good quality example from the Yaogangxian Mine, Yaogangxian W-Sn ore field, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China. Dimensions 5x4.x3 cm 35 grams.
