Pearly White Dolomite Rhombs with Calcite Crystals, Thorold Quarry, Ontario 5cm ON15
Pearly white Dolomite rhombic crystals from 2-4mm densely packed on a Dolostone matrix. Joining the Dolomite crystals are pale yellow Scalenohedral Calcite crystals ranging in size to 1cm. Some of the Calcite crystals are doubly terminated. The Calcite has white fluorescence under long wave UV. This specimen has a very nice sparkle as both the Dolomite and Calcite have excellent luster. From the closed collecting locality the New Thorold quarry, Thorold Quarry (Walker Quarry), Thorold Township, Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. Dimensions 5x3x2cm 16.6 grams.
