Scheelite, Fluorite and Quartz crystals, Dongshan Mine, Chenzhou, Hunan, China, 9.25cm CH03
A very aesthetic specimen comprised of two Scheelite crystals on bed of Quartz and Fluorite crystal. Scheelite is an important source of the metal Tungsten. The Scheelite are 2 and .75cm in size and have a covering of some Quartz. They are a pale caramel in colour. Associated with Scheelite are numerous needle like Quartz and cubic Fluorite crystals (up to 1 cm). The Fluorite are a pale green colour which gives the whole matrix a pale green cast. The Quartz are actually clear. The Scheelite has a bright florescence under SW UV light. Condition is very good with some Quartz crystals damaged the periphery of the specimen. The underside of the display side is saw cut from the host rock. From the Dongshan Mine, Xianghualing Sn-polymetallic ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China. Dimensions 9.25x7x4cm 352 grams.
