Rare Carrollite (Copper-Cobalt Sulfide) Crystals on Dolomite, Kambove Territory, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo 5.5cm AF17
This excellent specimen has a Dolomite matrix hosting a cluster of fine, beautifully-modified Carrollite crystals. Carrollite is a rare Copper-Cobalt sulfide. The cluster is 1cm across, and the crystals have outstanding, mirror-like luster. In addition to the Dolomite matrix, there is a small sprinkling of Chalcopyrite and a larger iridescent Chalcopyrite crystal adjacent to the Carrollite. Also some pale green Malachite staining. A nice example from the famous Carrollite locality Kambove Principal Mine, Kambove, Kambove Territory, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo Dimensions of 5.5x4x4cm 69 grams.
